International Olympic Committee
The lost tribe of Zebulun counts the International Olympic Committee as its international organization. The games having origin in ancient Greece.
International Olympic Committee
The IOC was founded in 1894 by Pierre de Coubertin with Greek businessman Demetrios Vikelas as its first president.
The first modern Olympic games were held in Athens, Greece, in 1896.
The committee organizes games that take place every 4 years. After 1992 the winter and summer games were split so they were 2 years apart.
The 4 year cycle follows the pattern from ancient Greece.
The current headquarters for the IOC are in Lausanne, Switzerland. This is an exception to the general pattern that each tribe hosts an important international organization. There may be a better organization in modern Greece, or this organization is being hijacked from Greece.
Place of Greece
The team from Greece leads the procession at opening and closing ceremonies, no matter where those games are played.
UN Status
In 2009 the Olympic committee was granted observer status at the United Nations. This gives the committee the right to take the floor.
Give Back To Greece
There are various calls to move the Olympics back to Greece on a permanent basis. This would restore them to their ancient origins. This would significantly reduce the environmental impact of venue construction.
